Fly High with Aviation Giants: Piper, Cessna, and the Luxury of Private Jet Ownership | SRRTHW #38
Ever wonder who the Dodge of aviation could be? Get ready to embark on a flight of fancy as we mull over the big names in the aviation industry, Piper and Cessna, and equate them with automotive giants like Ford and Chevy. Our journey takes us to land of aircraft ownership, where we analyze the value and cost of certain models, including the Citation 2, Generation 2. We even humorously contemplate the perks of jet ownership – a luxury we agree would require some serious financial skyrockets!
We then change our flight path, envisioning a world of self-driving RVs which redefine convenience. Imagine sleeping on the go and waking up at your destination – a deviation from the usual hustle of driving. We share anecdotes from our pit stops at Love's truck stop and discuss the diverse vibes of different states. We may be aviation enthusiasts, but we readily admit that sometimes, the journey truly is as important as the destination. Join us for a spirited mix of education, entertainment, and the occasional diversion into unexpected, but definitely interesting territories!

We interrupt this transmission to bring you another segment of Scott Bors reads 5 Star Reviews.
Speaker 2:Here we got one from Papa Specs Piper vs Cessna Battle Royale. If Cessna is Ford and Piper is Chevy, then who makes the Dots of Aviation? Robert Lee and Scott are the top tier when it comes to aviation education and entertainment. You will find no better source of knowledge, laughs and frustration for learning all or nothing when it comes to the far aim. Come for the lessons, stay for the drinks. Who is Dodge of Aviation?
Speaker 1:That is fantastic. Ceres I feel like Ceres is too much of a quality product associated with Dodge.
Speaker 2:Yeah, because Piper and Cessna are kind of on the same level. I don't know if there's another one.
Speaker 1:I don't know, Ford, who is the oldest of Piper Cessna.
Speaker 3:Beachcraft. They make a decent product.
Speaker 2:They are supposed to be a step above, and they are owned by Cessna anyway.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's all text drawn.
Speaker 2:Text drawn on the same company, I don't know, mooney.
Speaker 1:I was just going to say that, maybe.
Speaker 2:They went out of business.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I guess they get a bunch of hate from Mooney owners but they might be kind of the Dodge of Aviation. Maybe not if they're Dodge fans too.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 1:I've been looking at that Citation 2, Generation 2. It's like 5.9 million.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I look at planes that are worth that all the time.
Speaker 1:But it's goals. That'd be nice. I'm on frontier hating my life trying to figure out a better way to get back and forth from Northern Ohio and South Florida.
Speaker 3:Who spends that much money on a plane? That's nothing compared to a jet.
Speaker 1:That's like a cheap little fly yourself jet.
Speaker 3:That's nothing. That's a waste of money. If you have lots of money, it's not but it's still a waste of money.
Speaker 2:I'd have to have a lot of money. Before I spent 5 million on a plane A couple years ago the Challenger 300 I flew up on.
Speaker 1:those are going used for like 9 million now Used. That was like an old one the guy had. He could sell it now for 9.
Speaker 2:Yeah, if I was like I'd have to be super rich before I bought a jet.
Speaker 1:Me too, but like I'm telling you right now, you fly? Private. It's like a reorient your life of like.
Speaker 2:I fly private all the time.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I'm talking like back and forth from Florida nonstop at like 40,000 plus feet.
Speaker 3:Maybe we're going to use that to like go rescue the dogs in China, yeah.
Speaker 2:No, yeah, everything relates to dog.
Speaker 1:If someday I can afford and you guys ride on some sort of jet back and forth from Florida, you'll be like, okay, I totally understand why. Anybody who's able to pay the bill flies private.
Speaker 3:I would never say that.
Speaker 2:I would settle with a self-driving RV that I can just sleep in. Oh yeah, totally.
Speaker 1:Totally.
Speaker 2:I'm totally on board with that too, because that's just as good.
Speaker 1:You know, you're going to get a night. You know, cooked some dinner, go to bed.
Speaker 3:You wake up in the morning you're in Florida, you don't have to spend the night at a love's truck stop Right because it just keeps driving all through the night.
Speaker 1:That's part of your experience of love's truck stop.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's a good story.
Speaker 3:Well, if you're ever going through New York, I avoid New York like the plague Waterloo, New York.
Speaker 1:New York and California are two states I do not go to unless absolutely necessary.
Speaker 3:Upstate New York's. Okay, yeah, true.
Speaker 2:As long as you stay away from the city, it's not? Yeah, you don't think. It doesn't seem like you're in New York, it's like very country-ish.
Speaker 1:Yeah, like Ohio, Texas and Florida.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Wyoming's pretty nice.
Speaker 2:Yeah yeah, ohio's pretty good, florida's good, texas is good.
